Many people are interested in holistic ways to be well and live positive, healthy lives. This goal is a good one since prevention is always better than attempting to fix problems. I believe that is the reason why modalities such as chiropractic, acupuncture, aroma therapy, Reiki, Healing Touch energy therapy, visualization techniques among others are becoming more popular in our contemporary culture. They work well in conjunction with traditional medicine to boot.
In a previous article, I have discussed the benefits of two essential oils for home use: peppermint and lavender. I would like to add to the list of essential oils that an individual may want to have in the home. These are Pan Away and Patchouli.
Pan Away is a blend that contains wintergreen (Gaultheria procumbens), clove (Syzygium aromaticum), helichrysum (Helichrysum italicum) and peppermint (Mentha piperita). Each of these oils in and of themselves have qualities that aid in maintaining normal cell regeneration. Together they create a synergistic blend that promotes good health and boosts stamina and energy. Personally I use 2-3 drops with about a teaspoon of carrier such as sweet almond or jojoba. I apply to areas of stress such as knees, lower back and feet. This is especially helpful after exercising to soothe my sore muscles. Essential oils get to the very cells of the body within minutes through the olfactory processes. 홈타이
Although we cannot claim that essential oils can be used for pain relief they do have a very subtle effect on the body and when used over time help support all the systems of the body including immune, circulatory, musculature, respiratory, endocrine, skeletal, digestive, limbic and nervous.
Another essential oil good to have in the home is Patchouli (Pogostemon cablin). Patchouli is from the mint family and was extremely popular on college campuses in the 1970’s. You could easily smell the scent of patchouli whenever you walked into a dormitory, cafeteria or passing students going to classes. Why? Because students often have times of intense study which can be very stressful. In fact, just being a student is stressful from living with a roommate in a confined dormitory to the stress of work and projects. To have an essential oil that is soothing and an aphrodisiac is very helpful for easing that stress. I’m fairly confident in saying that patchouli was used by college students to help manage their stress and elevate mood. So could it not have the same effect on those of us with stress in our lives? I think it can and does!
During times of stress I mix a few drops of patchouli oil with carrier oil and apply the mixture to the soles of my feet after a warm shower. I rub all the vita flex points for a few minutes and then put light socks on until the oil has been absorbed. It smells and feels wonderful.
The beauty of essential oils is that they can have so many benefits for wellbeing. They’re great for promoting vitality and longevity. Using aroma therapy is a holistic practice that you can add to your toolbox for good health!
